SCHEDULING: Please indicate your preferred studio location: Orinda CA, Ferndale CA or Ashland OREGON or ONLINE via skype

The acceptance of ongoing private students is based on an initial interview to determine goals and objectives, combined with a vocal assessment and half-hour lesson. The singer participates in a short discussion of their experience and goals for study, vocal range and function is assessed and discussed, and the focus of a customized vocal program determined. Scheduling and correspondence are handled via email; students should be able to check email regularly.

Session times are scheduled on an individual basis, pre-determined and confirmed by email. Please arrive on time and bring the following: a recording device, sheet music/lyrics in binder, vocal tracks or instrument (if used), monologues, scenes or sides and pencil. If you wish input on your resume or head shot, please also bring to your appointment. Payment is made in advance: either by Paypal, or bring check/cash to your session. Rates available on request.

Internet video (or telephone) lessons are a regular part of ongoing study for continuing students. These sessions are paid in advance, and taught via SKYPE or iChat, using high-speed Internet connection and web camera.

After the initial assessment, those who commence an ongoing program of instruction are asked to make a commitment to attendance at lessons to guarantee a permanent time slot. The full fee is due for cancelled lessons unless the time can be filled by another individual. A 48-hour (2 day) cancellation notice is required to cancel a private lesson. To cancel any session, call Claire on the cell 707-616-7798. On rare occasions it is necessary for the teacher to cancel a lesson due to an emergency or performance/teaching requirement. When this happens, as much notice will be given as possible, and the student will not be charged.

It is understood that regular practice & effective performing experience is recommended to benefit fully from any private study. Performers are encouraged to practice a minimum of 15 minutes daily (5 days a week is recommended) including techniques: exercises from recorded lessons, songs and acting material. Ideally, younger students are monitored by parent supervision (parents are welcome to attend sessions, take notes/ask questions to further student progress. Singers purchase their own sheet music and musical accompaniment and are encouraged to bring guitar or recorded tracks to every lesson.
